just some stories after listening to many many of my boss's talks. very enlightening.
1) once there was a pair of twins who was studying at kumon. [we have something called a nunmber board. the board has no.s from 1-30. you just need to put the pieces according to the number. v simple.. ] they are sisters. two of them were doing the number board at the same time. to motivate them to speed up, mr theng said that whoever finish first would get a sticker. the elder sister was obviously doing the number board faster. she had abt 7 or 8 pieces left while her mei was barely half way through. then this jie jie asked " mr theng? then what if we finish it together? " mr theng was stunned but quickly reacted by saying that both would get beautiful stickers. this jie jie immediately slow down. she would fiddle with the pieces b4 slowly putting it down on the board while glancing at her mei mei. and in the end, both placed the final piece at exactly the same time. he kept his words and even gave both of them extra stickers
-how precious kinship is.. -
2) there is a glass door in front of you. [assuming it isnt locked] you wish to enter. you try turning the door handle but it doesnt budge. you try pulling. still it doesnt open. then you try pushing it. you even use your leg to kick the stupid door but to no avail. its urgent. you really need to get something impt which is left in the room. now, at this point of time, what will you do?
give up? curse and walk away? but have you really tried everything.. what abt trying to slide the door sideways. to the left or right. or pushing it upwards. then if everything fails. choose the destructive method. BREAK the glass door. of course. you need to pay a price for this. so always use this as a last resort
- think out of the box-
