nothing to do so i thought i will try something.. to see how long it will take for ppl realise that i didnt put a blank post. haha. interesting huh.
nowadays i have been thinking about a question. whether it is ' fair ' for students in uni? some ppl come from poly, some jc. some have prior knowledge in certain subjects while others have absolutely no idea about the topic.
also, the students are not of the same age. younger brains would process things faster whereas older ppl have an upper hand in that they have more knowledge in that field, as mentioned above. the most disadvantaged are those who are older and yet not have much knowledge.
but thinking deeper, the society itself isnt fair at all. there shouldnt be a need to. some ppl are naturally more talented in certain things and thus able to pick things up quickly and hence advance faster then others. those ppl who put in more effort will reap more benefits. ppl shouldnt be jealous of successful invididuals because they have no idea how much effort those ppl have put in.
note: the above is purely my reflections of what i have experienced so far. so i would like to advise parents to stop complaining about those exam papers. so what if others have seen similar passage before. if your child read a lot and practised a lot, then he/she would have been able to complete the passage with ease too. get used to it. in uni, there are PLENTY of sources. even if the prof were to tell me that he would set questions about this particulat topic, i wouldnt be able to practise all the related questions. i would only be able to ' spot' his questions. others who take the time to " consult him " about questions would know how this prof thinks and the type of questions he would likely set.
so what to do? practise more. spend more time with the books. visit your teachers more regularly. and of course, visit the temple. im quite a religious person. and often, luck plays an important factor in determining your grades. ^^
