Taiwan grad trip- part 3

13/12- Day 3. Guangfu Sugar Factory

We didnt explore a lot today. it was drizzling after we ate breakfast at a shop. I ordered a san ming zhi + zhu pai. weird but still its nice. Lol. We missed the gao tie to Guangfu so we took the bus 1137 to Fuli instead. the journey was abt 1h 20 mins. The sugar factory is huge. And the main area has more or less become more like a designated tourist spot. There is an ice cream shop here. Nice~ Each cone is huge with more than 30 flavours to choose from.

There was one dog who was sitting at a corner. like a sentry guard on duty. Lu went over to play with it. Its called dou mou/ er mou. Thats what one of the lady said. This fortunate dog had dumpling for lunch.. And it really liked to rub itself against lu. Well. maybe its her jeansThis place was more or less run by the ah mei zu. Wee bought a pair of trousers- very tribal like but very cool- here. its ex but its one of a kind.. worth it! I also bought more剥皮辣椒 here. its nice. slightly different from the one i bought earlier but still yummy.

Dinner was at 锅神刷刷锅. the golden triangle place  at 中山路. super filling. There was another steamboat shop beside but it was booked for a tour- a sg tour. Apparently the two shops were 'affiliated'. lol. the tour guide came over to this side to eat though. It was also the first time we watched taiwanese news. wow. its.. different. There is actually a link between the different news. eh an eg i rmb was the comparison between one of the local restaurants and ding tai feng. sth about whose dumplings were nicer.. comparing the taste and appearance of the dumplings.. how thick or thin the pi was.. the next story was about some half- baked bread. sth abt the yeast not rising properly. then expts were conducted to find out what was the cause.. etc etc. so the news goes on and on..

14/12- Day 4 Taipei- 中正纪念堂- 龙山寺- 华西街夜市 - 师大夜市

I woke up at 4 plus- wee even earlier. We had a 6.23am train to catch. Crazy? yea. its the result of insufficient planning. By then time we rmb to book the tixs, most were alr sold out. Its probably because of the weekend. The journey from our Taroko 18 to the station was torturous. Imagine carrying a 11 kg baggage- consists of mochi, chilli and wine. Killer combi! I must applaud lulu for her amazing strength. And once again, I cant help feeling how lucky we were to catch our train. The whistle was already blowing and we were still not on board. wow.. the shot of adrenaline. lol.

We checked into our room at Taipei Backpackers' Hostel at Ximending. ( Lu used her phone to called Erika, the person in charge).. Its nice. Two levels but the top level is abit low.. anw we took a short rest before walking to ximending to eat the famous 阿宗麵線. (its intestine.. not oyster as i originally assumed)

Then we made our way to 中正纪念堂. We made our way there by asking ppl along the way. ( we walked. its a mistake. i recommend the MRT) Its quite iconic- white &blue walls.. but the place was under construction so we didnt stayed long. 自由广场.. hmm in those movies, its always someone in shades walking briskly and lots of pigeon fly away.. . over here, its also cool.. in a chinese way. Lol.

龙山寺 was next ( one of the MRT near Ximen) .. we visited the temple. The environment is nice, with a mini waterfall but there was some event going on so the place was really crowded..

the 华西街夜市 was nearby so we went to take a look but there is really nth much. some stalls selling snake meat, tortoise. Games stalls and some fortune telling shops. Although the place is rather empty because its not dark yet but i dont think it will be appealing to the younger crowd anyway. oops. Lol. there is some kind of passageway which links the station to the temple and there is a whole row of fortune tellers. wee wanted to read her fortune and the lucky lady that was chosen was rather strange. actually the whole thing was.. kinda ridiculous. Some of the things the lady said is true but its rather general. I wanted to laugh several times but i had to keep it in. well well. science student. cant help being skeptical.  BUT if wee gets married at age 27, and her husband is as shuai as 黄晓明, is born in the year of a sheep or dragon,  i will eat my words and go back to find that lady immediately!!

Dinner was at 师大夜市. Take the MRT to 古亭站 and take a 10 min walk.. just follow the signs. I like this night market the most. 許記生煎包 is really really nice. the arnor crepes is also not bad. We ate the 卤味 too but i think i prefer our sg' style kway chap but its worth a try.

15/12 国父纪念堂- 五分埔

breakfast was 永和豆浆 at 善导寺. Nice. the soya milk is thick and reminds me of milk for no particular reason. there was another snaking queue at another shop.. seems like its another dou jiang stall but my sis recommend this and lu's friend recommend this too. so i would recommend this to everyone too! tasted and verified ( see the three sauce.. can you tell which is vinegar? we got it right only on our third try.. we were just pouring black substance and tasting .. ) . haha

国父纪念堂 has some exhibits on display but the main exhibition hall is under renovation.. It has a park nearby and there are students dancing hip hop, old folks doing qigong.. very peaceful and serene feel. We didnt stay long. today was planned for us to do crazy shopping-五分埔.
haha but hor, we went too early and about 11 plus and 95% of the shops were not open yet. yes.. how disappointing. we headed back to 台北 市政厅 and explore the shopping malls.. the movie tixs are even more exp than sg! $16 plus.. there was a lady recommending some pdt. she said it was one of the items promoted on nv ren wo zui da.. she goes on and on and yea amazing, wow. UNTILLL a red thing appear on wee's hand.. followed by lu's and mine. ok! so what if the pdt is gd? all 3 of us are allergic to it? so who dares to buy!!  =.= ( i took a photo of the brand, leave a msg if you are interested to know)  lunch was at mister donut. lu and wee napped here while i played my phone. i think we must have occupied the place for at least 2 hrs .

After enough rest, we went back to 五分埔. woo~ its like a different place. bustling with students.  sth sad is that lu and me got separated from wee. at first we moved together. but lu and me took a longer time in the shops so wee wasnt too interested in the type of clothes we were looking at, so she said she would go on to a few shops in front before turning a lane. There was some miscommunication because the streets were really too long and abit complex.  and in the end.. hmm. i felt bad.. (i felt better only until we met up again back in the hostel and she was happily sharing with us the things she got.) lu and me went on to 饶河夜市 after conquering all the streets( lu wanted to walk e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g..). Dabao food back to eat together with wee. There was a shop which sold dong gua cha and because of this drink i...  shant elaborate. hahaha. try 胡椒饼 , 炸排骨,状元糕..
